Elewana Loisaba Star Beds:
Sleep Under the Stars in Kenya’s Wild Heart
Elewana Loisaba Star Beds offers one of the most unforgettable safari experiences in Loisaba Conservancy, where nights under the African sky and wildlife encounters become part of your accommodation. Perched atop a rocky kopje with sweeping views over the valley and a permanent waterhole, this unique safari camp lets you sleep directly under the stars — a dream for adventurous travellers and nature lovers.
A Safari Experience Like No Other
At Elewana Loisaba Star Beds, handcrafted four-poster beds on raised wooden platforms are rolled out into the open air each night so you can fall asleep beneath the endless African night sky. The accommodation perfectly blends comfort with wilderness immersion: rustic design, thatched roofs, and open-air layouts complement the surrounding rocky landscape.
Each star bed unit features an open-plan bathroom with a solar-heated hot shower, toilet, and hand basin — all thoughtfully designed to frame views of the valley below and enhance your connection with nature.
Stylish & Authentic Accommodation
Loisaba Star Beds includes four platforms:
- Three Double Rooms: Each with a handcrafted four-poster bed set on a raised deck with seating and wardrobe space.
- One Family Room: Two double beds on separate outdoor platforms connected by a short undercover walkway, ideal for families or groups.
Immersive Wildlife & Activities
Loisaba Conservancy is a biodiversity hotspot and home to a remarkable range of species — from elephants and lions to Grevy’s zebras and lesser-seen antelope. Staying at Star Beds places you in the heart of this wild landscape, overlooking waterholes that attract resident wildlife.
Beyond star sleeping, activities on offer include:
- Guided game drives — encounter big game and iconic African species
- Bush walks — explore the bush on foot with expert guides
- Horseback safaris & camel treks — unique ways to traverse the conservancy
- Mountain biking & nature hikes — take in the scenery at your own pace
- Cultural visits — meet local Samburu and Laikipia Maasai hosts and learn about traditional life
Whether you’re watching elephants at the waterhole at dawn or sharing stories around a crackling log fire by night, each day at Loisaba Star Beds promises adventure and connection — both with nature and with local culture.
Dining & Shared Safari Living
The communal Star Beds lounge and dining deck becomes the social heart of the camp, where guests gather for meals, sundowners, and stories beneath the wide African sky. Meals are freshly prepared and often served outdoors with views across the conservancy, culminating in intimate dinners around a fire under the stars.
Conservation & Community
Loisaba Star Beds is part of a broader conservation partnership between the Elewana Collection and the Loisaba Community Trust, committed to protecting wildlife habitat and improving local livelihoods. A stay here not only delivers an extraordinary safari but also contributes to vital conservation work across northern Kenya.
Best Time to Visit
The Laikipia region is excellent year-round, but wildlife viewing peaks during the dry season (June–October) when animals gather at waterholes. The short dry season around January–February also offers clear nights ideal for star gazing and open-air sleeping.
