Serian – Where Calm Meets the Wild!
Imagine waking before dawn to hear the distant roar of a lion, cooled mist rising from the Mara River just visible between ancient trees. The sky turns; birds begin to stir. You slip out onto your wooden deck, the day’s possibilities wide open. This is Serian – The Original, a sanctuary of serenity in Kenya’s Mara North Conservancy. More than just a safari lodge, it’s a place where nature, wildlife, and luxury breathe together.
About Serian – The Original Camp
Serian The Original is the flagship bush camp of Alex Walker’s Serian collection. Open all year, it is one of only eleven camps located in the private Mara North Conservancy, adjoining the iconic Masai Mara National Reserve. That means fewer crowds, deeper wildlife encounters, and a feeling of real wilderness.
With its tented marquees, thatched communal areas, large verandas, bush bathrooms, and a treehouse option (‘The Nest’), it delivers understated, elegant comfort. Every guest is allocated a private safari vehicle, guide, and spotter, making the journey as intimate as the destination.
Location & Setting
- Conservancy & Views: Located in Mara North Conservancy, overlooking the Mara River and the Siria/Oloololo escarpment.
- Serenity & Exclusivity: Only a handful of camps have access to this private wilderness. Day-trippers are rare.
- Wildlife Density: Excellent game viewing (Big Five, large predator action), abundant birdlife including raptors, and frequent sightings of riverine wildlife along the Mara River.
Accommodation & Amenities
- Tents & Family Suite: Serian has five spacious tented suites—including one family suite—that blend rustic fabrics with elegant furnishings. Beds are king-size, bathrooms feature flush toilets, hot-showers, large bathtubs, twin basins. Each tent has its own private veranda with panoramic views.
- ‘The Nest’ Treehouse: For a romantic or adventurous twist, spend at least one night in The Nest, a tree-house perched in a Warburgia tree overlooking the Mara River. Under the stars with minimal barriers between you and nature.
- Communal Areas: A thatched mess tent with open-air dining, cosy lounge with indoor fireplace, wooden decks, libraries or lounge areas. Comfortable furnishings, warm textures—designed for relaxation.
