Manda Bay resort
A Private island retreat
barefoot luxury meets adventure and conservation
Nestled on Kenya’s quiet northern coast, Manda Bay is a family-run retreat where wild adventure, conservation, and barefoot luxury come together. With no windows in the resort beachfront bandas and no worries in sight, guests arrive as strangers and leave as family
Accommodation
There are 16 luxurious cottages (11 beachfront and 5 sea view) flawlessly designed in keeping with the local landscape. Nine of the rooms are set right along the seafront with the other rooms set in-between and slightly behind. Each cottage has a large ceiling fan, refreshing showers inside the en-suite bathrooms, and private verandahs.
All the resort rooms are crafted from locally sourced materials, including wood, palm-woven matting floors, and palm thatching. Each bedroom is en suite and designed with simplicity in mind, featuring open-air windows without shutters or glass. Every room includes an oversized walk-in mosquito net, overhead fans, and a verandah with chairs and a swing bed for ultimate relaxation.

Experiences
There is something for everyone at Manda Bay. One can enjoy the comforts and beautiful setting, in addition to activities on offer which include relaxing by the water or indulging in a massage. If you are feeling energetic, there are water sports such as deep-sea fishing in search of the Marlin and Sailfish, windsurfing, water skiing, and scuba diving, to name a few. Cultural visits and dhow safaris are also available. There is also a games room overlooking the sea, complete with a pool table, darts, and table tennis.
Welcome to this water sports paradise. The setting is in a sheltered mangrove creek, and the calm waters here are ideal for water skiing. Guests can ski at high tide, yet just outside the creek, there is generally enough breeze for sailing, wind-surfing, and kite-surfing. Windsurfing instruction is also available for beginners.
Manda has four ski boats and a large selection of skis and other equipment, including a six-man ocean rider (Banana), an air chair, super-screamers (doughnuts), and knee and wake boards. Likewise, instruction is available for beginner skiers. The resort is closed from mid-April to mid-July.
