• RATES INCLUDE Arrival/departure transfers and transportation around the Karen & Langata area (included in the rate if the collection time is after 11:30 am on the day of arrival and prior to check out at 10:00 am on the day of departure), all meals, house wines, house soft drinks, house beers, house spirits, laundry, wireless internet access, entrance to the AFEW Giraffe Centre, Orchid House dining, access to The Retreat during check in and check out times, boules, croquet and VAT.
• RATES EXCLUDE Champagne, luxury spirits, selected wines, cigars, tips, health insurance, massage treatments and personal effects.
• CHILDREN Children are 3 to 11 years inclusive. 12 years and over is an adult. 2 years and under is an infant. Infants stay FOC. There is only a child sharing rate for the Superior Rooms at Giraffe Manor – this rate is the same whether they share the room in one of the beds or whether they are in an extra bed. Extra beds do not always fit, please see notes below and check with the office before booking. If a child is allocated to a single room, the rate charged is the FULL single room rate.
• *CLOSURE The Historic Manor will be closed from 21 April to 18 May 2025 inclusive & the Garden Manor will be closed from 01 April to 31 May 2025.
• CHECK IN Guests are welcome to arrive at Giraffe Manor from 12:00 noon.
• CHECK OUT By 10:00 am on the day of departure, unless another room is booked and paid for in accordance with the rates above. Please note that check-in/check-out times must be strictly adhered to due to the unique nature of the property. Giraffe Manor does not have a reception area or restaurant for guests to wait in. It is still very much like a family home. Should guests wish to arrive or depart outside of check-in times, The Retreat next door offers day rooms and day passes for access to all the wellness facilities and the restaurant, subject to availability. The Retreat is available to book twelve weeks prior to travel for guests staying at Giraffe Manor only; guests of Sala’s Camp, Sasaab and Solio Lodge may book further in advance.
• GAME VIEWING VEHICLE Giraffe Manor has one open sided 4 x 4 vehicle for game viewing in Nairobi National Park. This is bookable on an exclusive basis only for guests checked-in at Giraffe Manor and The Retreat. The car is available between 6:00 am and 4:00 pm for single groups of up to six guests (the vehicle cannot be shared with other guests). We recommend pre-booking to ensure availability. Please note that Nairobi Park fees are not included, and game drives cannot be combined with arrival or departure transfers.
• EXTERNAL MEALS Unfortunately, due to high occupancies and limited capacity we do not offer external meals (breakfast, lunch, tea and dinner) to non-staying guests.
• EARLY BIRD BREAKFAST It is possible to book an Early Bird breakfast at The Retreat at Giraffe Manor, please see rates and booking terms for The Retreat below. If a booking at The Retreat is not possible, we can organise an Early Bird alternative for those guests that are arriving on an early flight. Please get in touch with the reservations team for more information on our Early Bird packages.
• WEDDINGS If you wish to host a wedding at Giraffe Manor the property has to be booked on an exclusive use basis for three consecutive nights. Please contact our reservations team if you have such a request.
• LUGGAGE STORAGE We are happy to keep luggage in storage for a small daily fee of US$ 5 per bag which will go towards our conservation and sustainability projects. Giraffe Manor, The Safari Collection and their respective staff members will not be held responsible for missing items from the luggage or damage to the luggage itself.

Guests are required to lock their bags and fill out a luggage storage form at Giraffe Manor.

• PHOTOGRAPHY & FILMING Please send any filming or photography content requests for publications, commercials and brands to The Safari Collection’s marketing department. The Safari Collection has the right to evaluate each booking request involving filming or photography on a case-by-case basis and has the right to refuse bookings to ensure that all content is aligned with brand values.
• ROOM TYPES At Giraffe Manor there are ten Superior Rooms (Betty, Daisy, Jock, Marlon, Lynn, Helen, Kelly, Arlene, Edd & Salma), one Superior Family Suite with two en-suite bedrooms (Karen Blixen Suite) and one Family Suite with a ground level double bed and twin beds on a mezzanine. The Historic Manor rooms are reserved for guests staying at one of our other properties.
• SUPERIOR FAMILY SUITES & FAMILY SUITE The Karen Blixen Suite rates are based on 2 adults and 2 children (3yrs to 11yrs inclusive) sharing. 4 adults staying in this room are charged at the per person per night superior room rate. 3 adults staying in this room are charged at the room rate. The Finch Hatton Suite rates are based on 2 adults and 2 children (3yrs to 11yrs inclusive) sharing. Due to the size of the twin beds on the mezzanine (6ft in length) we are unable to accommodate more than 2 adults in this room.
• THE RETREAT AT GIRAFFE MANOR Located on the same sanctuary as Giraffe Manor, The Retreat offers Manor House guests a tranquil space in which to relax and enjoy a range of wellness facilities at any time during their stay within check in and check out hours. These include a pool, gym, steam room, sauna and hot tub. A selection of pampering spa treatments are available to book at an extra cost.
• DAISY’S RESTAURANT & BAR AT THE RETREAT Daisy’s Restaurant and Bar welcomes guests from Giraffe Manor who can enjoy a complimentary selection of house drinks and snacks during their stay within check in and check

out hours. A vibrant menu of cocktails, starters, mains, desserts and more is available at any time of the day, the

cost of which can be added to a room tab or settled directly.

Master bedroom with double bed and second room with twin beds, each with its own en-suite facilities equipped with bathtubs and showers. Shared south-facing terrace with giraffe feeding access. Option for third single bed in second bedroom for a child upon request.

Built in 2011, the Garden Manor is a recent addition to Giraffe Manor. It harmoniously merges with the original section of the house, known as the Historic Manor, ensuring a consistent experience and opportunity for guests to interact with the giraffes. The Garden Manor comprises six rooms open for booking to all, while the Historic Manor’s six rooms are exclusively available to guests staying at one of our bush properties for a minimum of two nights.

Please be aware that if the other property is cancelled, the booking for the Historic Manor will be forfeited and will be subject to availability at the Garden Manor. However, if the booking is made within 4 weeks of the arrival date, the Historic Manor can be booked separately.

Reservations or prepayment for exclusive breakfast tables with the giraffes are not possible. The allocation of tables is solely determined by the Giraffe Manor management team, who take into account various factors such as safety, traffic movement, access to exits, and group size. It is important to note that guests residing in the Garden Manor will be served breakfast in the Garden Manor dining room, while those staying in the Historic Manor will enjoy their breakfast in the Historic Manor dining room.

• THE RETREAT DAY ROOMS Four first-floor bedrooms provide peaceful sleeping spaces for those wishing to rest pre and post-travel. Guests are NOT able to stay overnight at The Retreat or visit Giraffe Manor, however our en-suite bedrooms can be booked for the day and provide ultimate comfort alongside our wellness centre. All rooms have twin or double bed options and some have an additional day bed, as well as huge walk-in rain showers, balconies, ample room for reorganising luggage and space in which to relax. Waridi’s Room and Nandi’s Room have open plan bathrooms with a separate toilet, whilst Lily’s Room and Alizeti’s Room have doors separating the bathrooms. Check in to your Day Room is from 10:00 am onwards. Check out from your Day Room is at 10:00 pm.
• EXTRA GUESTS IN DAY ROOM Extra day room guests are not provided with an extra bed. Nandi & Waridi have a twin or double bed option and additional day bed. Lily’s Room has the option of two additional day beds.
• DAY ROOM RATES INCLUDE Arrival/departure transfers (included in the rate if the collection time is after the 10:00 am check in and departure is prior to check out at 10:00 pm). • RETREAT DAY PASS The Retreat Pass is valid from 10:00 am to 10:00 pm. It includes complimentary water, luggage space and use of The Retreat’s facilities (pool, gym, steam room, sauna and hot tub) subject to availability and Giraffe Centre access. All food and drinks, day room use, spa treatments, transfers*, excursions and access to Giraffe Manor are excluded. Maximum capacity of 10 day passes per day.

*Arrival and departure transfers are included if the Day Pass is booked in combination with another of The Safari Collection properties. Transfers are not included if the Retreat Day Pass is booked as a standalone destination at four weeks from arrival.

• EARLY BIRD PACKAGE The Retreat Early Bird package is valid from 6:00 am to 12:00 pm. It includes continental breakfast, complimentary water, luggage space and the use of The Retreat’s facilities (pool, gym, steam room, sauna and hot tub subject to availability and Giraffe Centre access. Please note that the giraffes do NOT have access to breakfast at The Retreat. All other food and drinks, day room use, spa treatments, transfers*, excursions and access to Giraffe Manor are excluded. Maximum capacity of 8 Early Bird passes per day.
• *Arrival and departure transfers are included if the Early Bird Pass is booked in combination with another of The Safari Collection properties. Transfers are not included if the Early Bird Package is booked as a standalone destination at four weeks from arrival.
• GIRAFFE ACCESS Giraffes do NOT have access to rooms or dining areas at The Retreat. However, direct contact with the giraffes is possible at the end of the pool, although as wild animals we cannot guarantee their presence at any given time.
• *CLOSURE The Retreat closes daily from 10:00 pm to 6:00 am the following day.

The Retreat, like the Historic Manor, is only open to guests of The Safari Collection portfolio and therefore can only be booked in combination with one or more of our bush properties (Sasaab, Solio Lodge and/or Sala’s Camp) excluding Giraffe Manor.

If guests are only staying at Giraffe Manor, they can use The Retreat facilities during their stay within the check in and check out hours. If they require a Retreat Pass, an Early Bird package or Day Room at any other point during their safari, they can book up to 12 weeks prior to arrival. To reserve a pass or Day Room at The Retreat before this period, Giraffe Manor guests are welcome to book one of our bush properties.

At 4 weeks from arrival, any last-minute space at The Retreat (Day Rooms, Retreat Pass or Early Bird) will be available to book as a standalone destination. Arrival and departure transfers are not included in the Retreat Day Pass and Early Bird package if it is booked as a standalone.
