Mara Bushtops is set within our own 6,500 acre private wildlife reserve – the Bushtops Wildlife Conservancy (Isaaten). By working to an agreed plan, everyone gains: us, you, flora and fauna, and local Masai herders alike. Access to the Conservancy is exclusive to the Masai and Bushtops guests. These guests benefit from private night and off-road game drives. They enjoy walking safaris direct from the Camp. Sundowners and sunrises on the Sekenani hill are also included. Additionally, there are visits to the nearby Kakiya cave.

The Bushtops Salt Lick
The best view in the Masai Mara
Our private conservancy is a wonderland of wildlife and the best bit lies just yards from us. We are the only camp in the Mara to have a substantial natural salt lick. It is directly in front of the restaurant and spa.
Animals love it, arriving throughout the day and night in search of the minerals needed for healthy bones. This creates a constantly shifting nature show, as gazelle jostle with warthogs, zebra and impala, topi and buffalo. Herds of elephant gather. Up to 40 giraffe can join them at a time. It also provides every comfort to our guests. 12 spacious and fabulously appointed luxury tents (think of a 5-star hotel room, under canvas) can be found by following private paths from a shared space, to secluded havens of privacy and calm
Our guests enjoy comfort and privacy in vast decked tents. They gaze out over a private conservancy. There is a constant procession of wildlife. Fully reconnected, they relax in perfect contentment, looking forward to glorious safaris, fine dining and world-class pampering.

Luxury Tented Camp
Bushtops tents are simply extraordinary. The Camp spared no expense in creating them, making each a destination in its own right.
The 12 fabulously appointed tents open on three sides. They are named after the wildlife that can be seen wandering past the Camp. Sometimes, the wildlife wanders through it.
These tents are surrounded by more than a hundred square metres of private wooden decking. They are places to rest and enjoy a private meal. You can dream in a hot tub or simply relax under a canvas canopy. They offer views no hotel could hope to match.

Leopard & Rhino suite
Our two family suites, tent leopard and tent rhino, are our most magnificent creations. They overlook Mara Bushtops’ famous salt lick and its wildlife. The suite’s central lounge connects two bedrooms, each with its own bathroom. By adding a bed to each room, Leopard and Rhino can accommodate a family of six in glorious style.
The lounge is a shared space. It is ideal for an afternoon siesta, game, or magic moment. These moments are inspired by the suite’s fireplaces, floral display, and well-stocked mini bar.

Being presented with a choice of sumptuous a la carte dishes may seem extraordinary in the heart of the wilderness. However, our amazing chefs make it a daily pleasure. Every Safari camp dreams of having its own water hole, but few include a salt lick. The restaurant and camp fire at Mara Bushtops overlook this natural gathering point for herbivores (and their predators). As a result, our guests enjoy one of Africa’s most enchanting locations for eating, drinking and gazing – open mouthed and wide eyed – at an almost constant parade of wildlife.

Most guests are astonished to find a large, fully-stocked wine cellar lies beneath our restaurant. Surprise soon turns to delight as they explore world-famous wines from South Africa, France, and beyond, including exclusive vintages from private vineyards. We use ancient charcoal and evaporation refrigeration to keep the wine in optimum condition – until you are ready to add an unexpected treat to a perfect evening.
Local produce from our garden
Although almost 2kms above sea level, Mara Bushtops is blessed with fertile soils. This helps us grow parsley, basil, chillies, coriander, lettuce, spinach, runner beans, tomatoes, carrots and traditional Kenyan vegetables. As a result, our guests and staff enjoy fine fresh food; we reduce air & road miles; and our head chef maintains both high standards and a wide smile!

Circuit discount can not be applied if a 4=3 is applied for a particular camp but the circuit discount will still be applicable for the other camps where 4 = 3 is not applicable.

Mara Bushtops is managed by Orion Hotels Ltd., who have taken out an insurance cover. However it is a condition of using the services of Mara Bushtops for each visitor, whether booked directly or through an agent, to have adequate insurance cover against all risks associated with travel in Africa and it is a requirement that all travellers take out adequate travel and medical insurance prior to departure to Kenya. Neither the management of Mara Bushtops or Orion Hotels Ltd. shall be liable in any way for any loss or damages or injury and death arising from any incident that may occur whilst using the services provided by Mara Bushtops and Orion Hotels Limited.
