AT SERENGETI BUSHTOPS

Early Morning Game Drive

First, the hard bit: waking up before sunrise. Then an improvement: a pre-breakfast snack. After that, your morning at Serengeti Bushtops just gets better and better as you head into the grasslands to greet a new day

The Bush never sleeps. Something, somewhere, is always at work or at play, hunting or being hunted, browsing, mating or simply going about its business. However, the early morning is a particularly good time for our open vehicles to bring you close to the wildlife, just when the action is at its most exciting. Few predators hunt in the heat, so the cool of a new morning is when we are most likely to witness the thrill of the chase.

Whatever the animals lay on for us, this is a magical time, with subtle light stretching its tendrils across the landscape, the birds twittering and calling, and the sense of a great adventure beginning to unfold. Having risen early, it won’t be long before your stomach starts to grumble, so we take a pause for a full breakfast in a quiet, safe spot, before further viewing. The excursion then brings us back to Serengeti Bushtops in good time for a doze, lunch at camp, and whatever lies in store for the afternoon.

Serengeti Sundowner

An ideal finale to the day’s adventures

After a thrilling day’s game viewing, there is nothing to beat the blissful comfort of a sundowner – drink in hand. As your ranger and spotter set up a vantage point from which to watch darkness fall, the idea of wild luxury has become a wondrous reality.

Around Serengeti Bushtops, we are blessed by several glorious spots from which to see the sunset. One lies beneath a beautiful acacia. Another maximises the breadth and scope of the grasslands. Each creates stunning vistas and wonderful memories, as you watch darkness fall across the timeless landscape.

An alternative way to bid farewell to the setting sun can be found closer to home, with a sundowner enjoyed in the Camp, by the pool. Sit back, sip something refreshing and let the landscape seep into your soul, watching the deepening blues of the sky become streaked by a palette of reds and golds. This is Africa at its most beguiling.
