Detail Itinerary
Days 1-4
Upon arrival at Jomo Kenyatta International Airport, you will be met and escorted to a private charter flight from Nairobi’s domestic Wilson Airport on to Kalepo Camp.
KALEPO CAMP
Located on a dry river with sweeping views of the majestic Matthews mountain range, Kalepo Camp is a private, luxury tented camp which enjoys the exclusive use of 390,000 acres straddling both sides of those peaks. Very family-friendly, it is nestled in the heart of Samburuland, in northern Kenya, an area where people and wildlife still co-exist as they have done for centuries.
Days 4-7
Fly from Kalepo Camp onto Ol Malo via a visit to the wonderful Reteti Elephant Sanctuary
OL MALO LODGE
Ol Malo was designed in a luxury ranch style, built by hand using local materials to become one of the north’s original bush homes. Its spacious rooms are safari-inspired with added flair provided by local Samburu beads. The lodge lies in the heart of Samburuland and its owners have spent decades fondly working hand-in-hand with the Samburu tribe to benefit them and the local land and wildlife.
Day 7-10
Fly from Ol Malo to the Masai Mara, landing at the Olkiombo Airstrip. Doubling as a game drive, a short transfer will ferry you to Mara Plains Camp, your home for the next three nights.
MARA PLAINS CAMP
Swathed by the thick forest on a bend of the Ntiakitiak River, Mara Plains enjoys a pole position inside the private, 35,000-acre Olare Motorogi Conservancy, bordering Maasai Mara National Reserve itself. The conservancy is a stunning and intimate experience in its own right, amid one of the planet’s most iconic wildlife destinations.
This Relais & Châteaux-member property’s design and decor carries the essence of East Africa: its Swahili heritage is reflected by large wooden doors from the island of Lamu, while red accents honour great Maasai chiefs or warriors. Thanks to the rich leathers, copper and brass present in campaign-style furniture, an elegant yet comfortable atmosphere pervades – one which complements the surrounding wilderness. Above all, this property speaks to the intersection of cultures, and serves as a meeting place in which to talk, swap ideas or share the day’s experiences.
Days 10-14
Your safari bush experience comes to an end as you swap bush for beach, and travel towards sand, sea and relaxation. You’ll be transferred from Mara Plains back to Olkiombo ready for a charter flight to another airstrip near the beach town of Diani. From there, Msambweni Beach House is about a 25-minute drive.
MSAMBWENI BEACH HOUSE & PRIVATE VILLAS
The perfect place to relax and rejuvenate by the Indian Ocean, this serene property combines perfectly with an exciting safari. Boasting its own private beach, the chic, charming house is situated in Msambweni itself, a small fishing town and constituency in southeastern Kenya. Rooms in the main house share a 14-metre infinity pool; three private villas each have their own pool and gardens.
Day 14
After breakfast, you’ll leave Msambweni and be transferred back to Diani’s airstrip for a charter flight back to Wilson Airport. Upon arrival in Nairobi, You’ll be met by a Cottar’s Safari Services representative and taken to a nice restaurant of your choice for lunch (at cost). Afterwards comes the opportunity to explore some of the city’s highlights, before dinner (also at cost) and a transfer to Jomo Kenyatta International Airport for your flight home.
