Masai Mara Safari Itinerary — Stay at Governors’ Collection Camps
A Safari Story That Starts with Dawn
Picture this: the sun rises over the golden plains, silhouettes of giraffes cut across the horizon, and a chorus of birds welcomes the new day. A lion’s distant roar echoes across the Mara. You’re sipping coffee on your tent veranda, steps away from where elephants graze. This is the magic of staying at one of the Governors’ Camp Collection’s Masai Mara camps — Little Governors’ Camp, Governors’ Camp, or Governors’ Il Moran Camp.
Each offers a unique setting in the Masai Mara, but all share one promise: front-row access to some of the most spectacular wildlife encounters in Africa.
Suggested 4-Day / 3-Night Masai Mara Safari
Day 1: Arrival in the Mara
- Fly from Nairobi’s Wilson Airport to Musiara Airstrip (approx. 45 minutes).
- Short transfer to camp — at Little Governors’, this includes a boat crossing over the Mara River followed by a guided forest walk.
- Settle into your tent overlooking the river, forest, or marshland, depending on your camp choice.
- Afternoon game drive in the Masai Mara National Reserve.
- Evening sundowner followed by dinner under canvas or starlight.
Day 2: Morning & Afternoon Game Drives
- Sunrise game drive with picnic breakfast in the bush.
- Search for big cats — lions, leopards, and cheetahs are especially abundant in this area of the Mara.
- Return to camp for lunch and siesta time. Watch elephants and warthogs right from camp.
- Late-afternoon game drive, often timed to catch golden light on the plains.
- Dinner and stories around the campfire.
Day 3: Full-Day Safari or Balloon Ride
- Optional hot air balloon safari at dawn, followed by a champagne breakfast.
- Alternatively, a full-day game drive with picnic lunch to explore deeper into the reserve, possibly tracking wildebeest herds during the Great Migration (July–October).
- Return in the evening for a bush dinner or private dining on your tent veranda.
Day 4: Departure
- Morning game drive before breakfast.
- Transfer back to Musiara Airstrip for flight to Nairobi, or continue your safari by combining with another Governors’ property like Loldia House at Lake Naivasha or Mugie House in Laikipia
