House in the Wild – A Private Safari Retreat in the Heart of the Maasai Mara
As dawn breaks over the Olerai Conservancy, the soft light spills across the savannah, painting acacia trees gold and revealing silhouettes of grazing elephants. From the comfort of your private veranda at House in the Wild, the world feels untouched — just you, the wilderness, and the quiet rhythm of life in the Maasai Mara.
Moments like this define the essence of House in the Wild — a luxury boutique lodge where nature, comfort, and authenticity come together. Set on the Enonkishu Conservancy, bordering the famous Masai Mara National Reserve, this family-run property offers a private safari experience away from the crowds. It’s where rustic elegance meets heartfelt Kenyan hospitality.
A Story Rooted in Conservation and Family
Built on a reclaimed cattle farm, House in the Wild is part of the Wild Villas collection — a passionate conservation project by the Wood family. The property was designed to give guests an intimate connection to nature while supporting local communities and wildlife restoration in the Mara ecosystem. Staying here means more than a holiday; it’s a chance to be part of a regenerative journey that protects the land and its people.

Luxury Accommodation with a Wild Soul
Each of the seven riverfront cottages blends seamlessly into the natural landscape. Thatched roofs, wooden decks, and open-plan interiors bring the outdoors in. Inside, you’ll find spacious ensuite rooms, cozy lounges, and elegant touches — from handwoven rugs to locally crafted furniture.
Whether you’re a couple seeking romance or a family on adventure, the lodge offers private villas and exclusive-use options — perfect for travelers who value privacy, comfort, and personalized service.
Your Safari Experience at House in the Wild
Days begin with coffee overlooking the Mara River, followed by game drives across Enonkishu, Lemek, and Ol Chorro Conservancies. These protected areas are teeming with wildlife — lions, elephants, leopards, giraffes, and, during the Great Migration, thousands of wildebeest crossing ancient paths.
Guests can also enjoy guided bush walks, sundowners on the plains, cultural visits to nearby Maasai villages, and even horseback safaris for a unique perspective of the landscape. Every experience is tailored to your interests, ensuring your stay is as adventurous or as relaxed as you wish.
Sustainable Travel in Action
House in the Wild leads by example in sustainable tourism. Solar power lights up the lodge, water is locally sourced and purified, and meals feature ingredients grown on the family’s organic farm. By staying here, guests contribute to the Enonkishu Conservancy’s conservation programs, helping maintain one of Africa’s most vital ecosystems.
Dining – From Farm to Fork
Meals are a highlight — fresh, home-cooked, and inspired by Kenya’s flavors. Expect vibrant salads, locally caught fish, wood-fired pizzas, and decadent desserts served under the stars. Every dish tells a story of community, sustainability, and Kenyan warmth.
