The Laikipia Experience
Laikipia is one of Kenya’s most exciting wildlife destinations, offering a unique mix of private conservancies, diverse ecosystems, and some of the best horseback riding in Africa. The region is home to the “Laikipia Five” – a rare collection of wildlife including the reticulated giraffe, Grevy’s zebra, and the long-necked gerenuk – alongside the traditional Big Five.
What Makes Fuzz’s Camp Special
- Personalised Hospitality:The camp is run by Fuzz and Bimbi Dyer, who have created a warm, home-away-from-home atmosphere that guests find truly special. As one safari review notes: “We’ve been loving the personalized feel staying with Fuzz and Bimbi Dyer more regularly too”. This hands-on ownership ensures every guest receives attentive, tailor-made service.
- Horseback Riding Adventures:One of Fuzz’s Camp’s standout features is its horseback riding programme, led by Bimbi Dyer. Rides begin just a short walk from the camp and are available for all levels of ability, from complete beginners to experienced riders. Guests have been known to ride out twice daily, exploring the stunning Laikipia landscapes on horseback and encountering wildlife up close. As one report notes: “Bimbi’s rides are just a walk away from their camp and are available for all levels of ability”.
- Spectacular Accommodation: Fuzz’s Camp is described as “spectacular” alongside other exclusive Laikipia stays like Laragai, Arijiju, and Sirai House. The camp embodies the understated elegance of a private safari escape, offering comfort and style without compromising the authentic bush experience.
Why Choose Laikipia Over the Maasai Mara
For travellers seeking an alternative to the crowded Mara, Laikipia offers distinct advantages:
- Fewer tourists – Laikipia’s private conservancies limit vehicle numbers, ensuring intimate wildlife encounters
- Unique wildlife – Species like the reticulated giraffe and Grevy’s zebra are found here but are rare in the south
- Activities beyond game drives – Horseback riding, walking safaris, and community visits enrich the experience
- Stunning landscapes – From Mount Kenya views to riverine forests, the scenery is breathtaking
