Day 1: Nairobi to The Great Rift Valley

Loldia House

Arrive at Jomo Kenyatta International Airport off your international flight. Transfer by road (approximately a two-hour drive) through the scenically beautiful Great Rift Valley down to Loldia House, nestling on the shores of Lake Naivasha. Enjoy a delicious lunch, al fresco style, on the lawn overlooking the lake and with Mt Longonot in the distance.

Spend the afternoon at leisure on the ranch, witnessing the prolific variety of bird-life within Loldia’s lush gardens and around the lake and lakeshore. Dinner and overnight at Loldia House.

Day 2: The Great Rift Valley

Loldia House

You can either opt for a full day’s activities on Loldia Ranch; these include birdwatching and boat trips on Lake Naivasha, visits to the local flower farm, and a night game drive.

Alternatively, you can start super early and head off to Lake Nakuru National Park with a packed breakfast. Enjoy a morning game drive around Lake Nakuru, famous for its abundance of flamingos and a large variety of water birds. The park was declared a rhino sanctuary in 1983 and is currently home to both black and white species. A picnic lunch is served under the Acacia trees overlooking the lake, or you can head back to Loldia for a late lunch. There is also the option to stop at Lake Elementeita on your way back, a soda lake important for breeding many threatened bird species and famous for its flamingos.

Dinner and overnight at Loldia House.

Day 3: Loldia to Mugie Conservancy

GOVERNORS’ MUGIE HOUSE

Enjoy breakfast at Loldia, before heading off on a very scenic drive (approx. 4 hours) up to Kenya’s Northern Frontier District, where a delicious lunch will be waiting for you at Governors’ Mugie House. Depending on your preference, you can either head out on your first afternoon game drive to explore this pristine wilderness, lounge by the pool, play a round of golf, indulge in spa treatments, or enjoy a siesta. Pre-dinner drinks around a fire, dinner, and overnight at Governors’ Mugie House.

Please note it is possible to fly with Governors’ Aviation directly from Loldia to Mugie Airstrip (minimum pax numbers apply, please enquire).

Day 4-5: Mugie Conservancy Laikipia

GOVERNORS’ MUGIE HOUSE

Mugie Conservancy offers a range of signature experiences to enjoy the endless landscapes and ‘dry country’ wildlife species not seen elsewhere. From traditional game drives to canoeing on Mugie Dam (where elephants might join you for a playful dip), to bush walks, bush meals, and fishing on the Mugie Dam.

The conservancy also operates as a low-impact cattle ranch and a catalyst for community conservation initiatives. Enjoy a behind-the-scenes look at the conservation activities, including the anti-poaching unit with the team of bloodhound sniffer dogs. You can also head out with one of our team to track the conservancy’s collared lions and understand the work being done to prevent human-wildlife conflict.

If you’re lucky, you might get to meet Tala, the friendly resident Reticulated giraffe who wanders freely about the conservancy.

End each day with a spectacular sundowner from one of many vantage points around the conservancy.

Day 6: Mugie Conservancy to Masai Mara

GOVERNORS’ CAMP, LITTLE GOVERNORS’ OR IL MORAN

Depart from Governors’ Mugie House after breakfast, flying directly from Mugie Conservancy to the Masai Mara Game Reserve with Governors’ Aviation. On arrival, you will be transferred to your accommodation of choice with Governors’ (choose from Governors’ Camp, Little Governors’ or Il Moran).  It’s a short game drive en route to the camp, before an al fresco lunch overlooking the Mara River (or marsh in the case of Little Governors’). Embark on a thrilling afternoon game drive around 3:30 pm and return at dusk for drinks and conversation around the campfire, before your dinner. Fall asleep to the night-time chorus of the Masai Mara!

Day 7-8: Masai Mara Game Reserve

GOVERNORS’ CAMP, LITTLE GOVERNORS’ OR IL MORAN

Arise early each morning to make the most of your spectacular location. Each day offers you the option of three game drives within the Mara National Reserve, immersing yourself in this rich wildlife destination.

Depending on your preference, we have a range of activities to keep you occupied either side of game viewing: Masai village cultural visits, walking safaris, visits to some of our responsible tourism community initiatives located nearby – or – you can simply sit back, take a siesta or book yourself in for some of our safari spa treatments!

For a particularly memorable experience, enjoy a surreal journey in a hot air balloon with Governors’ Balloon Safaris (please note this is an extra cost) over the Masai Mara plains.

This adventure begins just before dawn; depart the camp at 5:15 am to the Governors’ Balloon Safaris take-off site, located just behind Little Governors’ Camp. The fabulous sunrise flight lasts approximately one hour depending on weather conditions. On landing, sit down to a delicious bush breakfast, freshly cooked on balloon burners in the middle of the Mara plains. Toast your return to Mother Earth together with your pilot over a glass of sparkling wine. Game drive back to your camp.

Day 9: Masai Mara to Nairobi

DEPARTURE DAY

Enjoy a final early morning game drive, followed by breakfast in camp before heading to the airstrip in time for your Governors’ Aviation flight back to Wilson Airport in Nairobi.
