Kicheche Laikipia Camp is a gem nestled in the shadows of Mount Kenya, within the vast and captivating Ol Pejeta Wildlife Conservancy. This eco-award-winning, luxurious tented camp offers a unique blend of green safari chic and the untamed beauty of its natural surroundings. Situated at an altitude of 6000 ft, mornings and evenings can be cool due to the influence of the mountain.
Location
Kicheche Laikipia, located in the Ol Pejeta Wildlife Conservancy, Laikipia, Kenya, is easily accessible and offers breathtaking views of Mount Kenya. The Conservancy itself is home to an impressive array of wildlife, including Kenya’s largest population of Black Rhino, elephants, cheetahs, lions, leopards, African wild dogs, and many species of plains game. Additionally, rarer species such as Grevy’s Zebra, Jackson’s Hartebeest, and Beisa Oryx thrive here.
Accommodation and Facilities
Kicheche Laikipia Camp boasts only six luxurious tents, each ensuring an intimate and personalized atmosphere. Among these is a spacious family suite featuring two bedrooms with ensuite bathrooms, connected by a lounge furnished with a sofa and a small table for private dining.
The camp’s well-furnished lounge and dining tent are equipped with two roaring fires, perfect for the cooler evenings. Meals are often enjoyed al-fresco, and pre-dinner drinks and star-gazing under the vast African sky are delightful nightly rituals. Game viewing can be done right from the comfort of your verandah, especially during the dry season when the dam attracts a multitude of wildlife.

Laikipia Wild Camping
For those seeking a different kind of adventure, Laikipia wild camping offers an exceptional experience. Guided by an armed ranger from Ol Pejeta and a Kicheche Silver guide, guests can enjoy a night in a private mobile campsite with beautiful views over the Aberdares. The walk is tailored to your preferences, ensuring flexibility in the duration and pace.
Camp facilities include dome tents for two, equipped with camp beds, bedrolls, and a washstand. Basic bathroom amenities include a long drop toilet and hot bush showers.

Child Rates:
- 12-17 years: 75% of adult rate (50% if sharing a Triple or Quad tent)
- 3-11 years: 50% of the adult rate
- Under 3 years: Free of charge (note that camps may not be conducive for infants)
- Family Quad Tents available at Mara and Valley camps
- Family Suites available at Mara and Laikipia camps
- Conservancy fees: 50% of adult rates for children & teens 17 years and below
Rates Include: Airstrip transfers, full board accommodation, shared game-viewing drives, night drives, escorted bush walks, laundry, canoeing, mountain biking, and a $5 per night Community Trust contribution. Rates Do Not Include: Use of a private vehicle or late departure fee.
