Ol Donyo Wuas lies in the foothills of the Chyulu Range. The Chyulu Hills are the youngest range of volcanic hills in Africa, the last volcanic activity having only happened about 600 years ago. The Lodge nestles in the western foothills of the Chyulu range, overlooking Kilimanjaro with quintessential Africa in the foreground, flat top acacia trees and golden savannah. The Lodge The lodge consists of 8 cottages, each one defined by its own  character, comfort and  privacy. The architecture is unique and the cottages are constructed using only local materials and has been featured in all the leading east african architectural journals. All cottages have a veranda with panoramic views of the plains and Mount Kilimanjaro. Ol Donyo Wuas was probably one of the first eco lodges in Kenya and we have a longstanding working relationship with the local Maasai community.We put great emphasis on education, development and  conservation. We formed the Maasailand Preservation Trust in 1992 to build schools, health clinics and also to oversee 86 community game scouts in the Tsavo/Amboseli ecosystem. Activities: Game drives in open Land Rovers. Either full or half day and night drives. Horse riding – there are 10 horses for morning, evening and all day rides. There is a selection of horses for beginners and experienced riders. Walking in spectacular open plains, acacia woodland and volcanic hills. Cultural visits to Masai Villages.
