Kenya Beach Safari:Lamu,Kiwayu Island
Kiwayu Safari Village-Lamu
Kiwayu Island, Lamu Kenya

Nestling among the mainland dunes, the oasis of Kiwayu Lamu overlooks a sheltered lagoon to the north of Kiwayu Island forty kilometres north of Lamu off Kenya’s remote North Coast. Kiwayu lamu is a family owned Lodge that was established  in 1973 by Alfredo and Lisa Pelizzoli. It is situated in a sheltered bay, on the edge of the Indian Ocean in the Kiunga Marine Reserve .

Guest accommodation in Kiwayu Lamu is in spacious cottages (crafted by hand from local materials); spread out along one kilometre of private sandy shoreline, guests will experience tranquillity and ultimate privacy. All one can hear at Kiwayu is the sound of the sea, the wind rushing through palm leaves and the melodic twitter of exotic birds.

Kiwayu Lamu is a natural, simple but luxurious retreat. Miles of deserted beaches with soft white sand and the soothing sound of waves will soon awaken the senses and lead you back to nature’s eternal rhythms. Kiwayu Lamu offers a retreat to those who wish to return to a natural lifestyle and who desire contact with the best and most simple sea-faring life that Kenya can offer. The only rule here at Kiwayu Lamu is "to relax"

For Accommodation at Kiwayu Lamu there are 18 Beach front Bandas ,One family Banda and the Baobabs of Kitangani-the Honeymoon Suite all spread out along the shoreline of Kiwayu’s white sandy beaches, these handcrafted beach cottages have the ultimate ‘Gilligan’s Island’ feel:

Each of the 18 Kiwayu Beach-front Bandas consists of a spacious bedroom, en-suite dressing area and bathroom (hot running water, flush toilet and shower) and sheltered veranda. In addition each Banda contains one or more ‘Lamu beds’, which can easily be converted into spare beds.

The Kiwayu Lamu Family Banda consists of 2 connecting bandas (internal path): both bandas consist of a spacious en suite bedroom, both with private seating areas. The Family Banda also contains ‘Lamu beds’, which could easily be converted into spare beds.

Kiwayu 'Baobabs of Kitangani’ Honeymoon Suite is located on a small secluded beach, set on Kiwayu Island - adjacent to the main Kiwayu beach and bandas. This suite consists of two large open areas (one large en-suite bedroom with open veranda area, and one spacious seating area), set in the shade of impressive baobab trees, and overlooking the tropical clear waters of Kiwayu bay. There is also a dining and seating area down on the beach – perfect for light lunches or romantic candle-lit dinners.’ Baobabs of Kitangani’ has its own private kitchen and staff. The suite’s sitting room contains 2 Lamu beds, which can easily be converted into spare beds (not suitable for young children due to open nature of rooms)
