Day 4 – Masai Mara, Cottars Camp: This camp gives you the authentic feel of that unique era when the word 'safari' became indelibly imprinted on the imagination of the adventurer, past and modern. Extending an era of luxury and quality, Cottars 1920s returns to the original spirit and essence of 'safari', reminiscent of a golden era - an era of romance, professional guiding, adventure and elegance. The Cottar's 1920s Safari Camp is situated in an extensive and exclusive concession between the Maasai Mara, Serengeti and Loliondo reserves where a few Purko Maasai clan roam. This area has been untouched by any kind of tourism or development and offers the discerning client a guarantee of privacy. The camp accommodates up to twelve clients in authentic white canvas tents, which are spacious and luxuriously furnished and incorporate original safari antiques from the '20's; private en suite dressing rooms and bathrooms (with old-fashioned showers and flushing toilets), the main bedroom and an outdoor veranda. Day 7 – Lamu, Manda Bay: Surrounded by magnificent coral gardens, empty beaches and indigenous woodland, Manda Bay is a glorious destination for both active and leisurely holiday makers. The cottages are spacious and comfortable with their own bathrooms; they are specially sited to catch the cooling sea breezes and all have verandas. Each room has a small fridge to keep your drinks cool. Each bathroom has a shower, twin basins and toilet. There aresixteen cottages, each bed surrounded by large flowing mosquito nets and cooled by overhead fans. The informal dining room and sitting rooms are comfortable, open and airy. They enjoy uninterrupted views of Manda Bay whose ever-changing waters attract birds, small local sailing craft and spectacular marine life. All rooms are furnished in vibrant Kenyan fabrics, specially designed to compliment the environment. All meals are relaxed and casual, served in the dining room, on the beach, or even on Utumaduni the traditional sailing dhow. The availability of wonderful, fresh seafood and tropical fruit dictates most menus but Manda Bay offers wholesome, nutritious home-cooked menus from all over the world to suit any palate. Our Swahili chefs can easily cater to the demands of those on special diets.
