The Masai Mara Experience at Governors' IL Moran Camp Kenya
There’s always excitement
in Mara, at dawn as the animals wake, midday with the shimmering heat and dusk which is perfect for hunting: a lion stalking
zebra, a herd of elephant heading for the swamps or cheetah cubs playing in the shade. But it’s the great migration
that captures the essence of raw nature at its best, from July to October the Mara becomes a backdrop for one of the last
great natural wonders of the world, when 1.5 million wildebeest and zebra surge up from the Serengeti plains in their annual
search for the seasonal grasses that sustain them. Sights you won’t forget! Or leave your vehicle behind and take a
walking safari with one of the camp's armed-guides for the true excitement of the bush down on the same level as the animals
or take a dawn hot air balloon, watch the sunrise as you quietly cruise across the Savanna plains and you’ll experience
the untamed beauty of the Mara.
Surrounding Masai Mara are the lands of the Masai tribe, a tall, proud race of
warriors. Herding cattle and goats, they’ve lived among the animals for centuries. Tour guides from Governors' IL
MOran Camp will take you to a Masai villages to see a way of life that’s survived almost unchanged for generations.
