Entumoto is a small, private safari camp where guests can experience the wild Africa. The camp is situated in its own, secret valley with a stunning view over the whole of Masai Mara. The sunset over the plain will be a lifetime memory to those who visit here.. Entumoto is an open, unfenced camp where the game can come close. The Camp maasai guards, the askaris, guard each tent and all day and night for maximum security.
Entumoto is a new camp with a long history. The founder, Karl von Heland, is the grandson of Erik von Heland. Erik was a young Swedish officer who traveled to Kenya in search of adventure after WW1. He became the manager of Karen Farm in 1919. The now world-famous farm belonged to the author Karen Blixen and her husband Bror von Blixen-Finecke and was the scene of the film “Out of Africa”.
Entumoto small and secluded setting allows us to offer exclusively use of the whole camp to groups that desire complete privacy. For instance specially thematic weeks will be arranged for Holistic Yoga retreats, artists and Creative writing and the like
Accommodation: Entumoto is an exclusive personal ” luxury tented camp”. The camp tents are made in a special multi-layered canvas. Each tent has its own, carefully selected spot at a good distance from each-other. The Camp offer four family tent suites comprising of one Double room, one twin room and a delightfully decorated living room with an open fire place and astounding views over the Mara plains. Entumoto also offer large double tents set on their own for complete privacy. All the tents are designed for maximum comfort and guests can relax after a long day in the daybeds and enjoy the magnificent views and sunsets from their very own private balconies.
Sundowner:The camp have a special cliff where every evening the guests can meet for a Sundowner in front of the fire and talk about the experiences from the day while the sun slowly sets in the horizon.
Dinning:Four course fine dining meets you as you end the day. Specialized menus are designed for every group using the camp own, freshly picked vegetables. A Natural springs allow the camp to organically grow its own food.
What to do at Entumoto Tented Camp.
Entumoto offer some fantastic experiences from the grand nature of the savanna and its abundance of game. You have a fair chance to spot zebra, antelopes, buffalo, elephant and more right from your own terrace! And at night you will hear many more animals thanks to the canvas ….
The safari activities on offer at Entumoto Tented Camp includes:
- Game Drives with highly skilled guides will take you on exciting action packed game drives and walks to spot some of The Big Five (elephant, buffalo, rhino, lion and leopard) and much, much more. We travel in custom built, open Landcruisers. Bush breakfast, half day, lunch on the plain, full day – all is possible. Sometimes we also do night game drives.
- Walking safaris in the surrounding hills with stunning views, under supervision) from the camp guides and askaris. This is the best way to get really close to the nature and offers very much in return for the brave. With the vast knowledge that the Masaai have – this is a chance to learn how they use nature to their benefit. Plants are used for curing ailments, roots are used for water and trees are used for many other things. Here you can learn about tracking animal foot prints, how long ago they passed by and be able to view also the small and shy creatures that we so often miss when sitting in a car.
- Swimmingpool, and you can of course use the poolarea for some snacks and drinks. In the big lounge we have bar, sofas,
- Library a nice places to relax and read, parlor, etc and we will also have special weeks for yoga, courses in photography, painting etc.
- Those with an interest for cooking are welcome to join our kitchen and garden staff to select and pick vegetables in our vast, fantastic and ecological vegetable garden.
Getting to Entumoto Camp
The best way to come is flying from Wilson airport in Nairobi. The flight is 40 minutes and there are several regular flights every day. At Mara Keekorok airstrip you will be received by our guides who take you to the camp. The adventure starts immediately and on the way to the camp (40 minutes) you will meet zebras, giraffe, buffalo, antelopes, elephants and sometimes also lion.
By car it is 240 km from Nairobi on a partly good road for 5 hours.
From Keekorok Airstrip you can also fly on to Mombasa or Lewa north of Mount Kenya or other destinations in Kenya
