Serian was the first of Alex’s camps, and it perfectly captures the essence of its name: meaning ‘peaceful, calm, serene’ in the Masai language, it was designed to be a retreat from the bustle of contemporary life, and a chance to experience untamed Africa in traditional tented splendour. It lies in the private Mara North Conservancy, and the beauty of this location is that only 10 other camps have access to it – so the feeling of having your own personal piece of Africa is a luxury that we have in spades.

As everyone is automatically allocated their own private vehicle when they stay with us, it only makes sense to complement this with a top-class guiding team.To optimise your experience, our guides work together with a spotter: an invaluable extra pair of eyes to ceaselessly scan the landscape while your guide focuses on navigating the terrain, and translating the inner workings of the wilderness to you.In this way, ‘book-knowledge’ plus an ancient system acquired over an age of living the wild life interweaves seamlessly to form a rich tapestry of knowledge to share

Serian Camp Accommodation

Serian consists of five vast marquees perched on beautiful hardwood decking – one of which is a family suite. Each is unique in its own way, but all are furnished with elegant simplicity, complemented by countless thoughtful little personal touches that make it feel like home. The beautiful bush bathrooms offer views over the river valley as you soak in your tub, and this openness simulates the delicious sensation of being outdoors. Airy and spacious, they include a shower as well as an enormous bath, twin basins, and a flushing toilet. The thatched mess area has a stunning view over the Mara River and the Siria escarpment, and is the perfect spot to share a sundowner and stories of the dwindling day. Join Adrian and Roisin by the fireside, and watch as the stars take over the sky.Comfy furniture, smooth wooden decks and an indoor fireplace give a warm feeling of home away from home – and the idea is to treat it like one: so sit back, put up your feet and succumb to the chilled ambiance and good company that constitutes Serian’s nightlife

Serian Camp “The Nest’ Treehouse”

Book a romantic night in The Nest in the middle of your stay at Serian or Ngare Serian For the ultimate “in the wilds” adventure, why not experience a night in a tree, under a star-filled African sky? Immerse yourself in the peace and serenity of a private tree house with nothing between you and the heavens but a canopy of rustling leaves and moonshine.‘The Nest’ compliments the prestigious Alex Walker collection of camps and is perched out on a limb in a lone Warburgia tree overlooking the Mara River, close to Serian and Ngare Serian Camp. With two double nest-shaped beds plus space for a couple of bedrolls, The Nest can work either as a romantic overnight tryst for two or as an amazing sleepover for an adventurous family or group of friends.Set in 1500 acres of exclusive conservation area adjoining the private Mara North Conservancy, there is space and freedom to roam and explore as you wish. Night-vision cameras are installed so you don’t miss the activity of nocturnal animals.
